| This class includes low pressure, high pressure and steam engineer relating to all phases of care and operation of boilers, method of firing draft control, water feeding and code requirements with first regard to safety and competent practical knowledge. The high-pressure boiler section covers water tube boilers, feedwater regulators, boiler combustion, boiler operation, water treatment, pumps and more. In the steam engineer section covers engines, D slide valve, uniflow, impulse turbines and reactionary turbines. NOTE: To take the exam, you must have 900 hours practical experience as a steam engineer, oiler, boiler operator, helper or repairperson.* This course is in preparation for the State of Ohio Stationary Steam Engineer's License Exam. |

| Students will learn the theory and hands-on skills by rotating through the following modules: Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Mechanical Drive Systems, Electricity, Electrical Controls, Motor Controls/ Troubleshooting, Programmable Logic Controllers, Robotics and Workcells. Each student will spend eight hours working in each module. The module instruction consists of a a text/lab manual and/or computer software. The student proceeds at his or her own pace learning the concepts and practicing the skill activiites for that particular module. This course is offered four times during the school year so students are able to re-enroll and resume their studies. |
