| This 8-hour American Heart Association Renewal Course provides re-certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. Students MUST possess a current American Heart Association ACLS & BLS Provider card prior to enrollment. Prior to the start of class, all students must possess a current AHA ACLS Provider text and complete the pretest contained on the CD that comes with the book.

Official 140 hour EMT program accredited by the State of Ohio. This course provides instruction and practice in dealing with airway obstruction, cardiac arrest, bleeding control, treating for shock, immobilizing fractures, assisting in childbirth and giving initial care to poison and burn victims. Learn how to administer oxygen, use backboards, suction devices, splint and stretchers. You must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, possess a valid Ohio driver's license, verification of MMR and negativbe TB skin test. Upon completion, you will be eligible to take the National Registry test. Call the Adult Education Office to request an application. A criminal background check and drug test must be completed through and approved source for admission to the program. Additional clinical hours are required for state certification. Accreditation Number 302. Book fees, uniform shirt and National Registry Test fee additional.

The program will prepare individuals to specialize in delivering high-quality nursing care to patients in any stage of wellness or illness. LPN graduates will work closely with physicians, registered nurses and other health care professionals to deliver highly skilled nursing care. As part of our Healcare Career Pathways partnership with Lakeland Community College, students who complete the program will be able to continue their career pathway education in Lakeland's two-year nursing program. Course consists of theory, skill development and patient contact through a variety of clinical experiences. Please do not register on-line for this course. This State of Ohio certified course prepares individuals for employment in long-term care facilities. Coursework includes: Basic Nursing Skills, Infection Control, Safety and Emergency Needs, Personal Care Skills, Mental Health and Social Service Needs, Basic Restorative Services and Residents' Rights. 26-hour clincial experience provides supervised application of skills. At the end of the course, trainees are eligible to take the STNA exam (fee for this exam will be at the student's expense). Punctuality and attendance are crtitical for this course. Students who miss more than 60 minutes of class time due to either tardiness or absence will be withdrawn from the course. Instructors meet all State of Ohio Trainer requirements. (One year of medical malpractice insurance is covered by Auburn). Book additional (approx. $30). Clinical times and days may vary for evening classes.
